A bi-annual Irish publication rooted in soil, stories, and our shared humanity

Le Chéile is a bi-annual printed journal that features articles about culture, place, folklore and stories.

As gaeilge Le Chéile means together. And truly, that is what our journal is about, tending our shared togetherness through stories, reflection, and connection.

Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine. In the shelter of each other the people live.

Each page of the journal contains beautiful graphic design interwoven with wild food and hedgerow recipes, academic and reflective articles, poetry, traditional and recent stories, rooted musings for our time, and so much more—drawing upon the rich voices and perspectives from people across Ireland and beyond.

The Vision of Le Chéile Journal

We live in a time of many great changes. Here we stand at the crossroads.

How would things be different if were to approach the challenges of today with strength from memory, imagination and heart?

From these questions, the project of Le Chéile Journal was born.

Le Chéile brings together inspiring and powerful perspectives from people across Ireland with some special contributions from people overseas—helping reclaim our story about who we are as people, what we are capable of, and how we can harness our strengths to face the challenges of our time in Grace.

Le Chéile is a celebration of the soil that unites us all, to offer the gift of nourishment to the reader—to nurture the roots of creativity, culture, and community through reflective and informative writing, art and creativity.

“In our culture one thing that we are missing is that these thresholds where we encounter the mystery and where we move into new change in our lives, there are no rituals to help us recognise them or to help us cross them worthily.”

-John O’Donohue
